A new research paper from 06 May 2015 documents the killing of dolphins in the Solomon Islands. Villagers of Fanalei killed more than 1,500 spotted dolphins, 159 spinner dolphins, and 15 bottlenose dolphins during the first 3 months of 2013 – one of the largest documented hunts of dolphins in the world. In 2013, the previously suspended hunting was resumed after compensation payments had ended.
